With its doors set to open to the public in August 2018, Sri Lanka’s first international shopping mall at Colombo City Centre is looking to redefine local retail management by placing technology at the heart of its operations.

The Mall at Colombo City Centre has already invested in a number of advanced technological systems, which have been designed to assist the management in ensuring seamless mall operations and a superior customer experience. Firstly, the tailor-made concierge app coined C1, puts the power of mall management technology in the hand of every customer. C1 is built to keep customers at the Mall connected to its management at all times, and can even be used to report problematic observations such as a malfunctioning light or a wet floor for immediate action. Another noteworthy investment includes Colombo City Centre’s cloud-based data analytics platform for retail tenants. Using sensors and other dedicated equipment, the platform is able to generate footfall heat maps of customer movements within the Mall. All data is stored privately and is accessible only to retail tenants and the mall management, who will be able to analyse footfall against customer spends using an intelligent dashboard that collates information gathered from the platform. A highly anticipated addition to the capital’s fast-developing skyline, Colombo City Centre is Sri Lanka’s first BOI-approved mixed development project, slated for completion in early 2019. The USD 180 Million joint venture between local retail giant, Abans, and Singapore-based Next Story Group is one of Sri Lanka’s largest foreign direct investments in recent times, and rises 47-storeys above the heart of the city.
