Colombo City Centre (CCC), an international standard mixed-use development coming up in Colombo-02, recently collaborated with Scope Cinema to launch Sri Lanka’s first and largest 6-screen Multiplex, epitomizing Colombo City Centre’s goal of bringing retail and entertainment that is consistent with world standards to Sri Lanka.

Combining both state-of-the-art technology and facilities, this 6-screen Multiplex will provide truly the best movie offerings in Sri Lanka,” said Mr. Rusi Pestonjee, Abans Group Director, when signing the agreement. “With the inclusion of this stunning Multiplex Cinema, the CCC Mall and its range of high- end retail brands will bring to Sri Lankans cutting-edge cinema entertainment,” he added at the signing ceremony.
Mr. Pestonjee also said that the project is on schedule and targeting the 2017 Christmas season for the launch of what will be the first high-caliber retail mall in the country, which is already sixty percent leased out.
Mr. Naveed Cader, Chairman, Scope Cinema (Pvt) Ltd, said he was thrilled. ‘This is the culmination of a long cherished dream to bring world-class cinema exhibition for our people and we have been carefully planning this foray” he added. Scope Cinema at Colombo City Centre will have 6 multiplex screens, 650 seats and will be screening about 30 shows every day. “The idea is to have a show starting every 30 minutes as that is what the citizens of Colombo want – to watch a movie when they feel like it,” further remarked Mr. Cader.
At the exciting new Scope Cinema, consumers will be first greeted with an exclusive lobby area, which will exude a lounge-like atmosphere, where they will be able to purchase tickets for either of the 30 plus shows that will run per day as well as access a hand-picked range of food and beverages extending beyond the conventional popcorn and soft drinks. Then consumers can head over to watch the latest Hollywood and Bollywood blockbusters on either of the 6 colossal theatre screens, which will host the newest innovations in 3D display. SCOPE cinema will also be introducing the latest in cutting edge technology like Dolby Atmos Surround Sound and 4K projection for the first time in Sri Lanka.
